In the spirit of promoting Peace Day in Hawaii and throughout the world, Honpa Hongwanji Mission of Hawaii and its Peace Day Committee invited the world to join in ringing bells for PEACE DAY on Thursday, September 21, 2023. The program was "hybrid," meaning it was held on Zoom and at many on-site locations in Hawaii and abroad. Following a minute of silence, representatives at participating temples, churches, schools, and community organizations as well as individuals rang bells for 5 minutes, many being spotlighted in turn on Zoom. The program also included interfaith messages and musical performances, including songs performed on ukulele by Jake Shimabukuro, our Ambassador of Peace.
